African Adventures

African safaris are Remote Recreation’s bread and butter. We lived in Africa for 14 years: we know how to plan highly custom safaris to fit your specific desires. We cover all of the best safaris destinations, and we will help you get to the right areas, at the right time, in the best camps. Whether you want luxury “camps” (private plunge pools and the works), a private camp just for your group, private charter flights to remote areas, or a more rustic (still glamping!) experience in traditional safari camps, we can set up anything for you. We get you far away from the bus tours, and into a unique enviroment where you experience real Africa.

  • The trip was awesome. We are trying to convince Jason's mom to do the same kind of trip in the next 1-2 years as this would be perfect for her. James, the guide, was very good. We were spoiled the whole time with the amazing lodging and the incredible food. It was an unforgettable experience and seeing elephants, giraffes, leopards, lions, baboons, and zebras was outstanding. There was nothing at all that could possibly be added to the trip.

  • After a day of fishing the boat ride back to camp in the cooling air with a beer--hippos everywhere, plus crocs slipping in the water as you went by--great sunsets with birds and bats all around--every day was a great day. The accommodations were right on the river--very simple but comfortable and great food and camaraderie. Another highlight was the full day of fishing with the catered lunch up in the national park with fresh lion tracks all over. A great trip.

  • If you are considering a safari but worry about your kids being too little or getting bored, stop worrying! My kids were 2 years... and 5 years.... Don’t listen to the naysayers who claim safaris are unsafe or boring for little kids....We’re just over a month past our safari and my 2 year old is still talking about it daily. He remembers the country’s name (Tanzania)...seeing lions and baboons..., and asks about our guide, Elmi.
